Our Norrlands guld products
Norrlands Guld is a Dortmund-style light layer with a full-bodied flavor and a hint of bitterness. The aroma of Norrlands Guld is fresh and malty, with a slight trace of hop scent. It's a moderate Dortmunder-style beer, full-bodied but with a hint of bitterness. Simply put, a nice beer. And that goes a long, long way.

Norrlands Guld
Norrlands Guld, also known as Gold of Norrland, is a lager beer with a rich history, introduced in 1965 by Sollefteå Bryggeri and later brewed by Spendrups since 1989. This iconic Swedish beer has gained recognition not only for its brewing heritage but also for its enduring advertising campaign that revolves around a stereotypical portrayal of Norrland.
Norrlands Guld has its roots in the northern reaches of Sweden, with the first brew emerging in 1965 near Sollefteå. Some attribute its creation to the warmth and camaraderie of the Swedish welfare state, while others suggest the influence of the Cold War, inspiring a beer that mirrors its cool and uncomplicated nature. The golden beverage is often considered a gift from above by some. However, Norrlands Guld is ultimately viewed as a product of Norrland, shaped by its serene nature, where stress and animosity have no place. Even today, the beer is crafted in alignment with this philosophy, offering more than just a beverage – it's a state of mind, a moment for camaraderie and relaxation, a time to simply be yourself.
Norrlands is a product of the deep forests of the north. A product of nature. All our beers are brewed with this in mind. It's a rather simple equation: without nature, no beer. Therefore, we always strive to minimize our climate impact as much as possible. To offer a beer that can be enjoyed with a clear conscience today and in the future.
Advocating for a sustainable lifestyle requires setting a good example. We operate based on a circular philosophy, using recyclable cups and plastic wrapping – you know, the one around our six-packs – made from 100% recycled material. Moreover, since the fall of 2019, the brewery in Grängesberg has switched to completely fossil-free energy use. We, for instance, reuse the draff, a byproduct from brewing, as biofuel, and the electricity we purchase is always renewable. The goal is to be a completely fossil-free operation by 2025, and until then, we offset the emissions we generate.
